The foods that are beneficial for a healthy heart are: Fish, whole grains, beans, fruits and vegetables. These types of foods maintain blood sugar. The foods that are unhealthy for you and unbeneficial for a healthy heart are: Salty foods, fried food (this has a lot of fat in it), and fast food. A lot of these foods have have saturated fats in them. Saturated fats can raise LDL's and HDL's.
Some activities that are hazardous to heart health is smoking, eating unhealthy, doing drugs, not exercising, etc. Some solutions are to quit smoking, avoid second hand smoking, stop doing drugs, and start exercising a little more. Smoking hurts your heart, because if reduces how much oxygen your heart gets, it raises your blood pressure, and can produce blood clots more faster. Some benefits to stopping the hazardous activities is a better heart, a lower blood pressure, and better lungs which help with the filtering of the heart.
Aspirin can help in preventing heart disease by reducing the blood clot clumping, by doing this, it will thin the blood so that no blood clots can be produced which will help a heart attack.

  • What determines a person's blood type?
  • What is your blood type?
  • How is blood typing done?
  • Why is it important to know the type of blood?  What are the consequences if you don't?

  • The different types of blood that people can have are: A-, A+, B-, B+, AB-, AB+, O- and O+. What determines a person's blood type are the antigens on the red blood cells.  My blood type is O+ . Blood typing is done by the ABO grouping system which divides the blood types into 4 categories. It's important to know the type of blood because, the patient in need of a blood transfusion may have a fatal reaction if given the wrong blood type. Consequences include back pain, bloody urine, chills, fainting or dizziness, and flushing of the skin.

    Nervous System Blog 4-8-15

What was the point of the lab??
The point of the lab was to show how the nervous system functions by recording electrical activities of neurons. We used the lab with the leech and dissected it to show what happened.
It explained how the nervous system of the leech functioned and the heartbeat.
How is this applicable to people??
It has been a useful specimen to study the function of the nervous system. It helps because you get to study the response of the nerve cells. If we study the nerve cells we can go deeper into learning how the nervous system is studied and we can figure out how some diseases occur.
